Getting to Know You

I didn’t get to participate in this the last week, maybe even two now – I lost track.  This is also supposed to be a Sunday post, but she still has the linky up, so I’m making sure I participate this week, even if I am a little late!

This week’s questions with my answers:

1. do you watch/read the news?  Hardly ever.  I’m not at a complete loss with what’s going on in the world, thanks to commercials for the news, my dad, and Hubby.  Otherwise, reading the news and watching it are usually just too boring for me or depressing.

2. how would you describe your "look"?  very casual.  I’d probably be an ideal candidate for “What Not to Wear”, but I don’t spend much money on clothing, and when I do buy new stuff it’s to replace something that finally wore out, and I still won’t spend much.  I only buy necessary clothing, and I tend to shop at Wal-Mart and Target, sometimes Fashion Bug.  I have a hard time finding clothing that fits and is flattering, so most of the time it’s jeans and a t-shirt.  Except for right now – it’s maternity clothes from Motherhood Maternity, and I only have a few pieces of that too!

3. did you play sports in high school or college?  Only whatever I was required to for phys. ed. classes.  I stayed in shape in high school by dancing (tap, jazz, and ballet), and twirling baton.  Those are my sports (and yes, I consider them sports – you may have your own opinion, but no debating here, kthanks).

4. would you rather give up lipstick/gloss or high heels?  Heels, considering I never wear them anyway.  I wore them on my wedding day, and I have a pair of black strappy ones that have a very small heel, but I haven’t worn those in ages because they no longer fit my feet very well.  But I use lip gloss/balm at least once a day, sometimes more.

5. what's your favorite show to watch on tv?  I can’t really pick a favorite.  I watch too much TV, period.

6. would you rather bake or cook?  Either.  Depends on what I’m baking or cooking.  I don’t do much baking because I really shouldn’t eat the products of baking, but I like to do both.

7. shorts or skirts?  shorts.  I never was much of a skirt/dress wearer, but I did buy a maternity dress for an upcoming wedding, and I am hoping to wear it this weekend for my baby shower as well, depending on the weather and temperature.

8. what's your favorite scary movie?  Again, I don’t really have one.  I used to watch more scary movies, but lately some of them are just too scary for me and freak me out to the point of not sleeping.  Even just thinking about them now is starting to give me the creeps!

I hope everyone had a great weekend!

Week #2 – Full Day #2

I was very unmotivated again today. I got nothing accomplished, and felt pretty blah. I guess not having hubby around puts me in a slump. I don’t like it. I am hoping tomorrow is a new day and I will be more productive.

I went to bed extremely late last night, which means I got up fairly late today. The kitties didn’t pester me for food yesterday morning, but you better believe Dusty decided to let me know when I had enough sleep for his grumbly belly this morning. One or both of them usually can get pesty in the morning when they want food (“Tubs” is on a diet, so unfortunately for little Dusty, he follows the same feeding now, which usually means no free for all on the food overnight), but this morning Dusty was a whole new level of annoying. He decided to skip pawing my legs and go straight for the head today. Not sure exactly what he was after or trying to accomplish, but he kept standing at my head on my pillow and digging between the pillow under my head and the one propped up against the wall.

The rest of my early afternoon consisted of catching up on “Persons Unknown”. I watched the first three episodes now, and it’s a little slow moving and weird, but I am totally into it. I couldn’t stop from watching all 3 episodes on demand, and excited now to see the next episode. Any of you watching that show? What do you think about it?

I headed out to return my free movie from redbox, and make a quick Target stop. I managed to beat the horrendous thunderstorm to get to my car, but driving home was altogether different. My wipers were going double speed, and I still couldn’t see! The lightning was striking a little too close for comfort to my car, and the thunder was booming so loudly that it scared me! It looked like a waterfall outside. I managed to make it in the house when the rain slowed a tiny bit.

This evening I spent at baton practice, teaching some of the older but newer or newest members. It felt good to be doing something, since I don’t always have a “job” at every practice due to the number of instructors. They’re a good group of girls, and I would love to teach them a new routine, or at least collaborate on one with one of the other instructors. We shall see what becomes of that, however. My hope is to at least be able to collaborate.

The scale was nice to me today and yesterday, but I’m still not back at my lowest weight because this past week/weekend really did me in. I’m not sure how nice it will be to me tomorrow though, since we went somewhere to eat after practice that didn’t really have any great options for low calorie eating.

Now onto “hump day” – hopefully the days after that will go so quickly that I’ll wonder where the time has gone. Hopefully I will also be more motivated to get things accomplished tomorrow.

Hi, I am now a “Gleek”…

glee Well, I don’t know if I really am, but I just got into the show “Glee”.  I never really got totally into it when it first started last year, but I had seen a few snippets of it here and there, and I constantly hear about the show and the music from a lot of people I know, so I found out Fox is re-showing the season throughout the summer and thought I would give it a go.

I have watched the pilot episode and “Showmance” now so far, and I really enjoyed both episodes!  I look forward to hearing their versions of the songs, and now I even listen with my “twirling” ear.  I volunteer with a baton twirling and dance group, and I was a member of said group since the age of 5, so a lot of times when I hear music, I think about how it could be used for a routine, if it would even be good for one, and I even start to choreograph to it in my head sometimes.  I have started to do that with the music from “Glee”.  So far, I really like “Halo/Walking on Sunshine”.  I haven’t seen it in an episode yet, but I heard it and really like their version of those two songs and how they put them together.  It’s very upbeat and fun.  :)

I do not like Will’s wife, Terri.  Not one bit.  Did you ever have a character in a show or movie really get under your skin and rub you the wrong way, so much so that you even give the TV nasty looks when they come on screen?  Well, she does that to me.  The way she acts like she’s so entitled to everything, and manipulates Will the way she does really irritates me.  Now, I’ve only seen two episodes, so whether that changes or not, I don’t know.  But I dislike her a lot.

So, any of you reading this consider yourself a “Gleek”?  Who’s your favorite character, or what’s your favorite song?  I do have one request though – no episode spoilers!  I know season 1 has come to an end, but I’m a little slow and haven’t gotten past episode 2 yet, so please don’t spoil the fun for me.

Thursday Five and Other Things

Thursday Five
My five “happy’s” for this week:

Jubilant

Giddy

Excited

Thankful

Stoked

1. I hit my lowest weight yet in my most recent weight loss endeavor! It’s not my overall lowest weight ever, but it is for this attempt! This attempt seems to be working….slowly….but still keeping motivated and now down about 24 pounds!

2. Watching “America’s Got Talent” with my hubby – he never really was a fan of the show and didn’t watch it with me much before, but now that Howie Mandel is a judge, he seems to be enjoying it more with me. I like when he gets into shows with me. :)

3. The baton twirling group I used to perform with, and now volunteer my time helping out and teaching will have their first show of the summer season tomorrow – they are performing a few new brand new routines for the first time, and I’m excited to see how they do!

4. I enjoyed the awesome weather here this afternoon and sat on my porch for a while. When we looked for a house, a front porch was a must have for me, and today I was thankful to have it and be able to enjoy it.

5. Still “stoked” about some possible new writing opportunities that might actually make me a little extra pocket money – I’m still doing my research on them, and figuring them all out, but I’m hoping for some good things to come out of it all.

Now onto the other things:

Jillian Michaels new show, “Losing It with Jillian Michaels'” literally makes me lose it every time! There have only been two episodes so far, but both made me bawl like a baby! She’s one tough cookie, and even just watching it motivates me to get up and do something. Today I did 20 minutes of free step and 10 minutes of free run on the Wii Fit. That equals 1600 steps through the step aerobics and 1.something miles for the run. I later took a long walk with my hubby around our neighborhood. I even stretched! So hopefully my legs won’t be yelling at me tomorrow and I’ll be able to do more.

I also made a new dinner tonight, and I must credit my hubby for the idea, because it came out very yummy. I made a “Taco Turkey Burger” if you must give it a name (and I like the sound of it!). I took extra lean ground turkey and mixed taco seasoning into it, grilled the patties on the Foreman grill, placed them on a wheat hamburger bun and topped them with fat free shredded cheddar cheese and salsa. It was delicious!

Hope you all have a happy Friday tomorrow – I will be doing my “Favorite Kitty Pic Friday” link up again. One person participated last week, which still felt great and I loved seeing her kitties, but I’m hoping for some more this week! If you’re reading this and would like join in, check back tomorrow for it!

Still “Lost”, Among Other Things…

250px-Lost_title_card I finally got all caught up on “Lost” today and watched the series finale.  Don’t worry, no major spoilers here if you are a fan of the show and haven’t caught up yet.  But I must say this about it: HUH, WHAT?!?  I thought the finale was going to tie up everything and answer all, but I’m still left with a lot of questions and confusion…  Do any of you watch the show, maybe have some insight on the ending?  Please comment if so!   I sort of understand the very ending, but it makes me question most of the entire series and things that happened – not really sure if I totally understand any of it now!

I’m also not very pleased with a lot of the season finales at the moment.  I feel like in almost every show I watch, someone was either shot or hurt in some way, all of which were good characters who I want to see come back next year!  Again, no real spoilers here, since I know I absolutely hate it when someone spoils it for me.  Also, how on Earth is Supernatural coming back next season – where do you go from the Apocalypse???

I am very excited for this summer of talent shows, including:

275px-So_You_Think_You_Can_Dance.svg and  250px-America's_Got_Talent_logo

I have always loved SYTYCD, and I’m very curious how they are going to run the competition this year by bringing back past contestants to partner with new finalists.  I’m also excited to see Mia Michaels on the judging panel.  Mary Murphy is obviously great at critiquing ballroom dances, but even I was starting to get tired of her constant screaming/screeching!  I will miss seeing Mia’s choreography though – hopefully she will at least create a group routine or something.  As for America’s Got Talent, I have watched every show of every season so far, but have not always been a great “fan” of it due to some of the ridiculous acts they pass through while saying no to some acts that clearly have more talent.  I started liking the show a whole lot more the year they passed through the very first baton twirler, a male twirler at that!  They still say yes to some pretty outrageous acts in the initial auditions, but at least the finalists have been much better and much more deserving (unlike Boy Shakira and Leonid the Magnificent, if you watch and remember those “guys”).  I am glad to see “The Hoff” go and Howie Mandel taking his place.  He should make for some very comedic and entertaining judging.

So, what are some of your favorite shows?  Anything in the finales that you would like to comment about?  Oh – and also very upset that “Heroes” was canceled!  They even showed the preview for the next “chapter” as they call it, but my hubby informed me the other week that it has now been canceled…

On a side note, nothing relating to TV, I had some very yummy peanut butter frozen yogurt on a cone from Schell’s Dairy Swirl tonight.  I had a very low-cal day today, and finally had some calories left to indulge in a sugar free/fat free Rita’s gelati, but they were closed when we got there, so we ended up with the frozen yogurt instead.  However, I have no idea how many calories were in that treat, but it was so good, and I enjoyed every lick of it!   :)  Not sure how the Wii Fit Board will respond to it tomorrow though…

I hope everyone has a safe and happy Memorial Day weekend!  No plans here this year.  In a way I wish we did have something planned, but no one was doing a picnic this year, and we don’t have the outdoor space ready for something nice yet.  We should start to get somewhere with that on Wednesday though – but I’ll save all that for another post!  Thank you to all the men and women who currently serve or have served our country!
