Project 365: Catch Up! (Weeks 2, 3, 4, 5, and 6!)

Finally back at the computer and linking up with Laura!  It’s obviously been way too long as you can see by how many weeks I am behind.  In order to shorten this post somewhat, I am going to list my captions for each week, and the photos will be on here below the captions as smaller images.  I have been keeping up with it, and posting my photos regularly on Facebook, which I can do from my phone, because yes – all my photos so far have been phone photos.  It’s handy for me, and allows me to post to Facebook as soon as I get the chance.  We have been pretty preoccupied with Bean here, some health issues that I will explain in another post.  So for now, onto the photo catch up!

Week 2:

Day 8: Bean's first taste of avocado. He made a sour face with every spoonful!

Day 9: Enough said. You get the idea. This day can never repeat itself.

Day 10: The calm before the storm. Happily playing in his around we go.

Day 11: Very sicky boy. Not usually such a cuddlebug, but he just wanted to be held and close all day.

Day 12: Still recouperating from his illness, he fell asleep all on his own while laying on the sofa next to me. That never happens. Poor baby.

Day 13: He still wasn't drinking much, but he certainly demanded his cereal and bananas!

Day 14: Bean did not want to nap when I tried to get him to take one, so I had him do tummy time instead. He quickly tired of that and took his nap. ;)

Day 8 Day 9 Day 10 Day 11 Day 12 Day 13 Day 14

Week 3:

Day 15, part 1: Jasper just had to get under the blankets and get cozy...Day 15, part 2: ...he succeeded!

Day 16, part 1: We went out clothing shopping and Bean was trying to remove his hood...the wrong direction....    Day 16, part 2: ...he finally got the idea the hood doesn't go that way. So stinkin' cute!

Day 17: I finally got Bean's laundry folded! Thanks to his 1.5 hour nap, this basket finally got dealt with after sitting unfolded for a good 2-3 weeks! I just kept adding to it and taking out of it.

Day 18: Late night snack. I should be sleeping, but I was too busy eating these...

Day 19: Picked up this outfit for Bean for our professional family pictures session. It's a 6-9 month though, but it was on clearance for $15 (originally $35!), and I had been eyeing it for quite some time. The problem is he is still in 3-6/6 month clothes, so it might be huge on him!  *UPDATE – I was able to find it in 3-6, so I returned the 6-9, but now he is gaining weight well again, so I better schedule that session immediately!*

Day 20: New sweater for me! There was another one I liked better, but they didn't have my size. I really miss my off white soft cozy sweater I used to wear, so I needed to get a new one!

Day 21, part 1: Thunderbolts banquet was western theme this year. Bean wore his cow outfit and at the banquet we were given hats and we used the mustaches for something. Couldn't resist trying them on Bean! LOL   Day 21, part 2: Me and my cowboy...literally, he has a cow print onesie on and a cow face bib. Thunderbolts Banquet, Wild West Theme.

Day 15 (1) Day 15 (2) Day 16 (1) Day 16 (2) Day 17 Day 18 Day 19 Day 20 Day 21 (1) Day 21 (2)

Week 4:

Day 22: I did not feel like cooking. We had a late night before with the banquet, and Bean not sleeping well, so I was tired and all I wanted was some comfort food delivered to my doorstep.

Day 23: Bean is 7 months old today! Time is flying...I feel like I need to start planning his 1st birthday already (because it takes me so long to do things these days...)!

Day 24: Bean's first real blood test. He didn't cry until the third (!) vial, and then I think he was just tired of being held still. The lab ladies were wonderful with him, singing songs and making him smile.

Day 25: Bean's new "rattle", LOL. He was having so much fun with this.

Day 26: I put Bean in his around-we-go while I ate dinner (it was a late dinner), and all of a sudden it got really quiet....this is what I found. This is what happens when he doesn't get a short evening nap.

Day 27: My aunt having some fun with Bean at my grandmother's house. She definitely always gets a smile and giggle out of him! (Sorry for the poor quality...it was dim, but my flash made them look horrible.)

Day 28: See that amount? 5 whole oz! Earlier? He drank 6 oz! The 5 oz is becoming a little more common than it used to be. Some feedings are still small, but hopefully we're getting somewhere now and he will catch up with weight gain!  *UPDATE – He hasn’t been drinking these amounts again lately, but like I said, I will do a Bean update post as soon as I can.*

Day 22 Day 23 Day 24 Day 25 Day 26 Day 27 Day 28

Week 5:

Day 29: Finally had to change my Scentsy scent. Hazelnut Latte finally lost its strength, now melting Sticky Cinnamon Bun and I LOVE it!

Day 30: Bean's appointment with the GI specialist was today. We have to give him stronger medicine, switch to all formula and concentrate it a little more, hence the pump - I will no longer be needing it very soon, and I'm kind of happy about that because it will free up some time for me.

Day 31: A perfect demonstration of just how fat and lazy Jasper is....he can't even sit up/stand to drink his water!

Day 32: I don't know what was up with him tonight, but he had his tongue sticking out all night long!

Day 33: I guess officially this was taken on day 34, but it's my photo for this day. Someday I'll start getting to bed before this time...

Day 34: The in-laws came for the weekend and brought these donuts from Dunkin. Big mistake...now I want them all the time!

Day 35: With the in-laws here I was finally able to catch up on laundry. My linen closet hasn't been this full of clean towels in months!

Day 29 Day 30 Day 31 Day 32 Day 33 Day 34 Day 35

And finally…week 6!:

Day 36: Our very own "Mr. Thomas". :)  (Watch Chronicles of Narnia if you don’t know what I mean…)

Day 37: Bath night for Bean! First time in his little ducky robe. :)

Day 38: Bean woke up from his nap in the swing, but was still tired, so he decided to continue his nap on me. He pretty much never naps on me anymore, so even though it's not ideal, the snuggles were nice. :)

Day 39: He was really pushing up on his arms this morning...now if we could just get the back half going, we'd have a mobile baby!

Day 40: He really wanted those socks! Launched himself forward from his daddy's lap!

Day 41: He was on his back when I left him on there to go put away a few dishes. This is what I came back to - somehow we keep missing him roll back to belly! Third time now!

Day 42: Bean, Daddy, and Grover hung out a lot today. I got some shopping done. (Really, Bean was making lip smacking faces at Hubby whenever he took a bite of his sandwich...I tried capturing that, but the little stinker wouldn't do it for the camera!)

Day 36 Day 37 Day 38 Day 39 Day 40 Day 41 Day 42

So, now that I’m all caught up, sorry for the long post!  Hopefully I will be able to get on the computer a little more and participate in this more on a weekly basis instead of a monthly basis.  If you are here from the link up, thanks for stopping by!  Leave me a comment and let me know so I can be sure to check out your blog as well.  Also, thanks for looking at/reading the whole post!  Hope everyone has a happy Sunday and a great week ahead!

4 months old!

Wow!  Time is going fast!  Bean is already 4 months old!  He was 4 months old on the 23rd, but we just had his well visit yesterday.  So here are his stats up to now:

Birth:  7 lb. 3.7 oz., 19 in.

2 months:  10 lb. 7 oz., 22.25 in.

4 months:  12 lb. 11 oz., 24.5 in.

He’s gained a total of 5 lb. 7 oz. since birth!  It puts him in the 10th percentile for weight and 25th percentile for length.  We still have a little peanut.  :)

He can now sit up assisted, holds his head very well, puts weight on his legs sometimes when you hold him in a standing position, and is reaching and grabbing at everything to put it straight into his mouth.  He is very “chatty” these days, but not much in the consonant sounds yet.  He hasn’t rolled yet, but the doctor wasn’t concerned.  Tummy time is going a little better – he holds himself up on his elbows and tolerates about 5 minutes now before he gets frustrated and yells at the floor.  No crying and screaming at the floor anymore unless you leave him yelling at it for too long.  Literally yells at the floor.  I wonder if he could talk what words he would be using.  ;)  His sleep has gone downhill though, but we were told what to do to try to get him to sleep better.  This visit required all the same vaccines as last visit, but for some reason, he’s not tolerating them well this time.  He’s had a fever and has been extremely cranky.  He did sleep pretty well last night though!  He’s still eating every two hours, with only a half hour nap between every feeding.  We’re allowed to start him on solids now, so we bought a box of rice cereal to start.  I know some people like to wait until 6 months, but this is our decision as parents, and we have decided to try now.  Well, this weekend anyway, since he was cranky and feverish today.  The fun mess we’re in for with that!  So overall, he is growing well and hitting milestones pretty well also.  He also had his first cold this past week, so that was no fun!  My poor sick baby.   :(

Here are some photo comparisons of each month:

Maybe when I get the chance, I will do a photo heavy post.  We certainly have enough of them to share!  Right now, I must go change what I think is a poopy diaper (you know, because I just changed him right before!), and see if he will take a little snooze while we eat.  Have a great TGIF and weekend!

Thursday Thoughts

1. I have a sick kitty.   :(   He’s been having sneezing fits since yesterday, and you can just tell he doesn’t feel well.  My poor baby, I feel bad for him.  I don’t think it’s time to call the vet yet, since he’s still eating some and drinking, but once I see that he’s not eating, I will put out the wet food (they can smell it better and will eat more when they are sick) and call the vet to see if he needs any antibiotics.  See, not feeling well:

sick kitty 1

Hubby put his blanket in the corner by the bookshelf in the office, and I know Jasper likes blankets, but this is a little unusual for him.  It doesn’t help that it’s chilly, and and the heat hasn’t been on yet.  sick kitty 2 2. Speaking of heat and chilly weather – I’m so tired of the rain now!  I know we had quite a dry summer here, and needed some rain, but I’ve had enough of it now.  I have outdoor things to do – fertilize/weed kill the lawn, plant my daffodil and tulip bulbs so we can finally mulch the planting bed around the patio, and I’d like to use my brand new fire bowl some evening before winter hits and make some s’mores.  We’ve had some nice days, but the nice days have either been too warm to plant the bulbs (I was waiting until the temps got cooler and stayed consistent – now that we’re there, I feel like I can’t get enough dry days to plant!), or busy with other tasks and errands, and lately we’ve gotten a late start to dinner, so it gets a little too late to sit outside around a fire for a couple hours.  I was supposed to have a baton lesson today, and that got rained out.  Tomorrow is supposed to be nicer, but windy, so I can have the lesson tomorrow, but the wind might be too much for a fire.

3. Oh, and as I was typing this post, the heat did get turned on.  Everyone is warming up, and so far I haven’t heard the clicking from the vent in the bedroom.  I don’t think it’s quite cold enough for the clicking to start yet.  Yet another stupid issue with our brand new house – the vent coming up through the garage/family room wall, running along the floor of our bedroom and coming to it’s opening in the back of the bedroom is made of aluminum, and expands and shrinks when we use the heat.  So, the result is we hear a clicking/pinging sound on really cold days when the heat kicks on.  When there’s no heat blowing, the vent “shrinks” since it runs through the one garage wall, and gets very cold, and then when the heat blows it starts to warm up the vent causing the metal to expand, which creates the noise.  Kept me awake and irritated soooo many nights last winter.  We were told that it sometimes is an issue in these houses, and they need to fix it by cutting into the garage wall, replacing the aluminum duct with a plastic flexible duct, and fix up the garage wall again.  If it’s a known issue, why don’t they make these houses with the flexible duct in the first place???  But no, I have to deal with the noise and have them cut holes in my home to find the problem and fix it.  My issue is that I don’t think the expansion problem is coming from the garage wall area, but where the duct runs between the family room ceiling and bedroom floor.  If that’s the issue, they might have to cut open my whole family room ceiling!  Really not looking forward to dealing with all that this winter…

4.  Back to my sick kitty – if you’ll notice in the above pictures, he is quite a tubby cat.  We have tried switching to light food, and now even strictly measure out his daily amount of food.  We don’t regulate the food bowls overnight, because if we did, we wouldn’t sleep at all!  But we are trying to get his weight down, and I don’t think we have been successful yet.  So, I saw this fun little toy, and thought it would be a super success!:

IMG_2658 Not so much…  I figured I’d fill it with some of his regular kibble (not treats, as if he needs anymore of those ever!), and make him work a little for his food.  He’d get some much needed play and his food would be the reward.  He would still be able to eat a lot of it from his regular bowl, but I was trying to incorporate some mental and physical work into his feeding.  He hasn’t figured it out yet…  He looks at me like I’m playing a cruel trick on him.  Maybe someday he’ll finally figure it out.

5. I have things to do that I just don’t feel like doing.  I have to hem a pair of costume pants for one of the girls in the baton group.  I offered to do it so I knew it would get done and hopefully come out well, but I really never feel like hemming pants…  It’s tedious and boring.  I don’t want to fertilize the yard.  It needs to be done, and seems pretty easy, but I just don’t want to do it.  The basement and garage need some major cleaning, and I really don’t want to do that!  I have some crafts I really want to finish up, but I’m at a tedious and boring part of the process for some of them, so I keep pushing it off.

6. Along the lines of crafts, I made these on Tuesday as well:

Swirly Blue Earrings1 - watermarked artfire

Swirly Blue Earrings2 - watermarked artfire

Swirly Blue Chandelier Earrings:  I have not added these to my Artfire site yet, because I have to figure out their cost and selling price.  There we go again with the tedious part of a craft that I really dislike to do!  Hopefully by tomorrow I will have them priced and added.  The ear wires are a different style for my typical selection, but I really like them and think they make this pair look more elegant.  The blue beads are leftover from my Beachy Blue set, and I bought the swirly chandelier parts a while ago, but just got around to using them.  Look for them there soon though!

7. I’m a little disappointed about some things.  I have yet to make a sale from any of my shops, and I hate to admit that to anyone reading this, but I don’t get it.  I think I make/create some cute stuff, and my jewelry and other crafts are priced right around what other people charge, if not less, but yet still no takers, no orders…  The stuff on my Cafe Press shops are slightly expensive, but I promise I don’t mark them up a whole lot – most of the cost for them is Cafe Press’ base cost for the item.  I even have my Breast Cancer Awareness items that I’m donating profits to the American Cancer Society, but sadly no takers on that stuff either…  So, I hate to do this, but I’m going to be a little shameless here – go check out My Style Crafts on Artfire, My Style Crafts-Photography Gifts on Cafe Press, and My Style Designs on Cafe Press (currently all breast cancer awareness designs on this shop with ALL profits going to American Cancer Society – changed from a portion as stated before) – if you like anything, buy it!  :)  Christmas is coming.  ;)   If you have any questions or would like to make any special orders, feel free to contact me!  I love to craft a whole variety of things, and I have some cute ideas for future projects, but struggling to get my dance business going, and not working otherwise, it gets hard for me to spend money on more supplies when I haven’t gotten any returns from previous projects.  It just makes me feel disappointed that I can’t seem to get anywhere with this stuff, and I have no idea why.  I know people are looking at it – if you have comments about anything, please send them to me!  I don’t know how to better my products or services if I get no feedback!

I think that’s all for today…I’m very tired because I hardly slept last night.  Jasper woke me up with a sneezing fit, and then there was just no going back to sleep after that.  So, at 5pm, I say goodnight!

“I feel like I’m taking crazy pills!”

Quote from “Zoolander”.  I’ve never seen the movie, but I will give you some insight as to where this came from.

My hubby has caught a cold.  Not a great time to be sick either, and I’m really hoping I don’t end up with it too.  But today he said he was feeling lousy, and I asked if he took any medicine.  When he said “no” and that he didn’t know what to take, this is parts of the conversation that followed (we were chatting back and forth via IM, since he was upstairs in the office and I really didn’t want to move from the couch at the time):

ME: what are ur symptoms?

HIM: feeling lousyness, stuffy, sinus congestion, my throat was sore, but I think that was post nasal drip from over night.  my brain feels cottony

ME: the box of red and green capsules on ur night stand, take those

ME:  that’s daytime sinus congestion medicine with some tylenol in it for ur cottony head

HIM:  merry christmas!

ME:  lol, the color of the pills?

HIM: yeah, my present from pharma clause

ME: lol, let me know if they start to help at all, cuz if not, i will see if i can find something different when i go out later

(some time later)

ME: any effect from the medicine yet?

HIM:  I dunno

Then we began discussing some patio stuff.  The guys started today, and I was concerned about the size, location, etc. since a few changes had to be made from what the landscaper painted for the outline.  I told hubby before that I might need to go out with a tape measure later to measure everything and see for myself.  That’s just how I am with all house related repairs, additions, etc.  It takes all I have not to stand right there when things are being done so I can see and question everything – I drive myself crazy!  (Maybe I need the “crazy pills”, lol)  So this is how the convo continued from there:

ME:  the screening goes on tomorrow, that’s the sand-like stuff.  he said the black edging will go on tomorrow too, and they should be able to put down the charcoal border.  do u know about the black edging?

HIM: yes, cause I asked him my "why don't the edge bricks just fall off" question yesterday and he told me

(our patio is actually being built raised up due to the slope of our property, not dug down into the ground and made level with the rest of the grass like usual – hence the concern of the edge bricks falling apart)

ME: ok, u'll have to explain to me then, cuz i didn't know anything about that, but i nodded and smiled and said ok great

HIM: lol, "I don't know what your talking about but okay great!!!"

ME: lol, yeah, pretty much

HIM:  thanks you, you cheer me up

I then ask him if he needs anything else when I go out for other things.  Earlier for lunch, he said he wanted something else, more food.  After I told him what snacks were here, he said he wanted “chippies”.  Now, usually when we say “chippies” in this house, we mean nachos – tortilla chips covered in melted shredded cheese and bacon pieces.  So, when he said “chippies”, I immediately went to that kind, and told him we didn’t have the ingredients, to which I got the response that that’s not what he meant, but thanks to me, he now wanted that, and I was mean.  So when I asked if there was anything else he needed while I was out, this is what followed:

HIM: ingredients for chippies...

ME: and is that what u pick as ur side dish for the chicken? chippies and cucumber salad?

HIM: YES!!!  Chippies!

ME: lol, oh my

HIM: *dance dance*

ME: should i really buy real bacon or use the bacon crumbles?  and what cheese?

HIM: BACONSES!  Delicious CHEESESESES!

ME:  oh my…

HIM: What were in these christmas pills, pharma clause?!

ME: lol, y?

HIM: I feel goofy... I guess you couldn't tell.

ME: this is so getting a blog post!  lol

HIM: …I’ll need to review it before you publish it  :p

ME: lol, y?

Which brings me to the Zoolander quote:

HIM: I don't want strangers on the internet thinking I'm taking crazy pills!http://www.moviewavs.com/php/sounds/?id=gog&media=WAVS&type=Movies&movie=Zoolander&quote=crazypills.txt&file=crazypills.wav

I told him he’s taken these pills before, and asked if they always made him this goofy, but apparently he was just being his normal goofy self.

So this is the story of the Christmas pills, and how I became “Pharma Clause”.
