Thursday Five!

Thursday Five
Happy July!

Happy

Excited

Appreciative

My five “happy’s” for the week:

  1. The baton twirling group I was a member of from the ages of 5-26, and now help out as an instructor, had a performance tonight.  I didn’t get to watch much of the show, but I was helping out with the behind-the-scenes and “stage crew” stuff, and that feels good.  It gives me a sense of feeling useful and accomplished.
  2. I got to see my athletic training mentor at the show tonight too!  I haven’t seen her in at least 4 years, and I didn’t really get the chance to go have a conversation with her, but I found her on Facebook, sent a friend request and a message, and maybe we can get her adorable little girl to give the group a try and sign up!  I was nervous to see her before, when we first moved back to the area, since I’m not in the sports medicine field anymore, but I have come to terms with my life and decisions, and I don’t feel so nervous to talk to her now.
  3. I will be collaborating on a new baton routine with another instructor for some of the newer members (high school age group), and I am super excited to start that (as well as very appreciative for the opportunity)!  I’m not used to working with that age group for a group routine, but they are good girls and eager to learn, so I think they will end up with a great routine and will shine in the shows just like all the other members.  I’ve been helping out in practices as needed, but haven’t had the chance to really be creative since I came back, and now I have that opportunity.   :)
  4. It was a beautiful day today – warm, but not sweltering, with a very nice breeze.  It’s the first time I’ve had my AC off in a little over a week, and it’s nice to be able to feel comfortable while saving energy.  My hubby has off tomorrow to go to an appointment with me, and is off on Monday for the holiday as well (even though it’s really on Sunday)!
  5. My Topsy Turvy tree is finally starting to produce some produce!  LOL, sorry, had to go there…  I have quite a few plum tomatoes started, there’s a few flowers blooming on the zucchini plant, and I have one pepper started with a bunch more developing flowers.  I had to spray it for bugs the other day, because my herbs were starting to look like swiss cheese, so I can’t use any of the herbs for another 2 weeks now, but I’m happy to see less destruction and no more bugs!

As you can see, most of my happy’s this week pertained to the twirling group.  I missed being a part of it so much while I lived in NJ, and being back has felt good.  This week especially felt great!  This is a post all about happiness, so I will only speak of that part of this week.  I did receive some bad news at the beginning of the week, but it’s definitely not something open for discussion or comments on here, so I’m concentrating on all the good things from this week, as that’s what this post is all about!

Hope everyone has a fun-filled 4th of July weekend planned!

Thursday Five!

Thursday Five

My five “happy’s” for this week:

Happy

Grateful

Jubilant

Ecstatic

Thankful

1. Today is a beautiful day! The sun is shining, the humidity is lower, and there’s a good, cooler breeze going outside. I was able to turn off the AC and open the windows to keep the house cool.

2. I am grateful to live in such a nice neighborhood. My current neighbors are very friendly, and I’m glad to have them living next to us. However…..one neighbor family is moving today (not quite a happy thought), but in keeping the upbeat mood, I am hoping for new neighbors just as great as them.

3. My Topsy Turvy tree planter is coming along pretty well! I haven’t posted about it yet, and I plan to, but I saw my first tomato flower bud on it today – yay!

4. Still excited to get my patio built – we bought some chairs this week to match the outdoor dining set that is being delivered over the next few days. The patio still isn’t even started yet – we just got the cost for it 2 days ago and still waiting on another cost estimate for the second part of it, and it was somewhat higher than hubby expected, so we might have to cut back on something, but I am still excited to get it completed and have a party! (sorry for the excited rambling there…it tends to happen with me sometimes…)

5. Yesterday was my 3 year wedding anniversary, and I am so very thankful to have my hubby be my soul mate. The card I gave him said it all perfectly – I am so lucky to have him in my life and I truly don’t know where I would be or what my life would be like without him. :)

Each week since I started following along with this, I am afraid I won’t be able to participate – that I won’t find enough to be happy about. I am pleasantly surprised that so far it’s been fairly easy to come up with at least five things! :) Happy Thursday everyone!

Thursday Five and Other Things

Thursday Five
My five “happy’s” for this week:

Jubilant

Giddy

Excited

1. I hit my lowest weight yet in my most recent weight loss endeavor! It’s not my overall lowest weight ever, but it is for this attempt! This attempt seems to be working….slowly….but still keeping motivated and now down about 24 pounds!

2. Watching “America’s Got Talent” with my hubby – he never really was a fan of the show and didn’t watch it with me much before, but now that Howie Mandel is a judge, he seems to be enjoying it more with me. I like when he gets into shows with me. :)

3. The baton twirling group I used to perform with, and now volunteer my time helping out and teaching will have their first show of the summer season tomorrow – they are performing a few new brand new routines for the first time, and I’m excited to see how they do!

4. I enjoyed the awesome weather here this afternoon and sat on my porch for a while. When we looked for a house, a front porch was a must have for me, and today I was thankful to have it and be able to enjoy it.

5. Still “stoked” about some possible new writing opportunities that might actually make me a little extra pocket money – I’m still doing my research on them, and figuring them all out, but I’m hoping for some good things to come out of it all.

Now onto the other things:

Jillian Michaels new show, “Losing It with Jillian Michaels'” literally makes me lose it every time! There have only been two episodes so far, but both made me bawl like a baby! She’s one tough cookie, and even just watching it motivates me to get up and do something. Today I did 20 minutes of free step and 10 minutes of free run on the Wii Fit. That equals 1600 steps through the step aerobics and 1.something miles for the run. I later took a long walk with my hubby around our neighborhood. I even stretched! So hopefully my legs won’t be yelling at me tomorrow and I’ll be able to do more.

I also made a new dinner tonight, and I must credit my hubby for the idea, because it came out very yummy. I made a “Taco Turkey Burger” if you must give it a name (and I like the sound of it!). I took extra lean ground turkey and mixed taco seasoning into it, grilled the patties on the Foreman grill, placed them on a wheat hamburger bun and topped them with fat free shredded cheddar cheese and salsa. It was delicious!

Hope you all have a happy Friday tomorrow – I will be doing my “Favorite Kitty Pic Friday” link up again. One person participated last week, which still felt great and I loved seeing her kitties, but I’m hoping for some more this week! If you’re reading this and would like join in, check back tomorrow for it!

My Thursday Five

My five “happy’s” for this week:

Jubilant

Giddy

Excited

1. I may not always like the extreme heat and humidity, but I am so glad summer is here! I love the summer season and the television shows that have started!

2. We had a landscaper friend of ours here yesterday to look at the backyard and begin planning our new patio – I’m a little nervous to get the cost estimates, because it’s slightly larger than originally thought out, and there’s a LOT of wall stones going up, but I can’t stop daydreaming about being out there and enjoying the summer at my new house located in my awesome neighborhood.

3. I’m very excited to find out about some possible new writing opportunities, that might even make me some extra cash, even if only a little! I’ll be sure to follow up with an update on that once I figure it all out and get started.

4. I’m so thankful for two things this week (don’t care if that’s cheating a little…) – my very generous grandmother who paid for my new tire after an unfortunate incident with one last week (my third flat tire in 2 years!), saving me $146, and my hubby who made me feel really good with such a small comment today about how he enjoys reading my blog. Maybe he’s supposed to say that because he’s my husband, but the way he said it really made me feel special anyway. :)

5. I am absolutely “stoked” to get all the furnishings for above mentioned patio, and have a small (or not so small…) party once it’s all finished!

If you would like to play along with this post, just click on the Thursday Five badge at the top of the post and check out the originator’s blog post and instructions!

I’ve had some aggravations and upsets this week as well, but since this is all about happy things today, I won’t get into them. At least the happy things outweighed the other stuff this week. I am also planning something a little different for my “Favorite Kitty Pic Friday!” post tomorrow, so please check it out and hopefully it works (or at least will be the start of something great)!
